Benriach 17, Finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry Casks, 46% abv.
Nose: very light, fruity, a mix of berries, maybe a light hint of of milk chocolate.
Palate: light bodied, light old steamed lotus leaves, hints of tobacco, very light hints of milk chocolate, no smoke, no fruit, not too spicy.
Finish: short to moderate, that old lotus leaf flavor remains for a bit.
Dry glass: wax made of fruit.
It felt like it took a bourbon cask and added enough sherry/sweet aspects (or water) to bring it back to a more neutral position on the taste axis. Has modest amounts of wet old steamed lotus leaves flavors that I attribute to "expired" sherry. This is where my scarred tongue is working against me. Reminds me of Glendronach 15 Revival a bit. Had this at Slainte mhath bar in Busan, South Korea.
