Benriach 1976-2012, 36 years, Bourbon Barrel Cask No. 414, 17/109, 53.3% abv.
Nose: intense, major vanilla, major toast.
Palate: great body, dry, cinnamon, honey, sugarcane, a hybrid sweetness with cocnetrated vanilla and graham wafers, and tropical fruit that is hard to describe but perhaps very close to lychee, longan, mangosteens, perhaps even guava; additional scented spices, after some time there is a hint of peat, major honey throughout, back palate is toast, vanilla, a thicker texture shows up.
Finish: short, dry, wood, and vanilla, some sesame seed in there too, unsweetened apple sauce.
Another amazing Benriach single cask, these 1976s and 1977s seem to be super amazing. Flavors are strong enough to communicate a variety of favorable flavors and aromas. Love the intense solid vanilla and toast, a little bit of dry peat and subtropical fruitiness, although the fruits flavored lychee, longan, and mangosteens than, for example, pineapple, durian, papaya, or mango. Well executed, well balanced, great body, spiced juicy fruits, amazing.
