Benriach 1997-2014, Connoisseurs Choice, Gordon & Macphail, 46% abv.
Matured in Refill American Hogsheads and part of the "New Map Label", although other similar bottles have been called "Old Map Label". Nose: green apples, green grapes, honey, fruity.
Palate: woody, slight tobacco, wood becomes more apparent as it remains on the tongue but not too overbearing.
Finish: short, maybe some tobacco and wood, but nothing going on.
Dry glass: tobacco-ish.
Nose is great, but then turns tannic tobacco-ish, and a little tongue numbing. Very unlike the modern and vintage Benriachs I'm used to. Not sure why G&M would try to do Benriach single casks in the 90's either. Had this at @bar_nomad_korea on December 2017.
