BenRiach Peated Quarter Casks, 46% abv.
This was the first bottling launched by Brown-Forman after they aquired BenRiach in 2016.
Nose: peat, some herbal notes, some wood notes, some Korean pear and Korean pear skin, after a while boiled peanut shells.
Palate: modest peat, not strong but at the fore; feint smoke, light hints of wood, moderate body.
Finish: moderate, peat smoke, not too strong.
A pure peaty dram, almost a purists version from beginning to end, although not strong. Pretty good entry level peat dram where there are none to very little non-peat elements. Also, this kind of confirms that I prefer the higher abvs/cs versions and so my opinions/reviews are skewed. I'll try to be more normal. Had this at Slainte mhath bar in Busan, South Korea.
