Solera system, but bartender has no idea what is in it. Basically solera describes a whisky production process where some whisky is added to a vat that contains previously held whisky. Perhaps sheds some light on the Scotch naming regulation/convention. Same process used in Spanish sherry and French brandy production. As an example you can see Ralfy from ralfydotcom literally add some Karuizawa 1990 Cask 679 to his little solera bottle. Undertakers are balling out of control nowadays.

Nose: grapes, sweet prunes, some plums and apples in there.

Palate: sweet, back palate has wood, oak, and wet old steamed lotus leaves/expired sherry.

Finish: wood, hints wet old steamed lotus leaves/expired sherry, coals that were put out, abv burn... at this point.

I'm usually scared by Blackadder as they tend to be stronger than they say, but this one was not as intense as I thought it would be. The finish is quite diverse, but overall not well balanced. To be honest, I asked for a high abv dram for my last one since the previous Glenfarclas was too intense. Overall not too special though. Just another over-oaked sherry malt. Unfortunately I don't have a good pic.

Grade: C+
