Supposedly a vatting of Fernando de Castilla Sherry casks from relatively new indepedent bottler Rest & Be Thankful Whisky Co. The "Rest & Be Thankful" label is from "Fox Fitzgerald Whisky Trading Company" founded by Eamonn Jones and Aidan Smith who used to work together at Whyte and Mackay, Ltd. The name of the company apparently comes from a stone containing the inscription, "rest and be thankful", that was installed at the highest point on a Scottish military road.
Nose: strong, mostly wood, peat smoke, asphalt, back aromas of fruit.
Palate: wood, fresh pastry, wet towels, wet bean sprouts, and wet legumes. After a few sips, it converts to wood, dull doughnuts, more plain, not as strange or exciting as the first few sips.
Finish: medium to short, sweet, fruit peels, everything seems to originate from the roof of my mouth. Gets a little spicy, more wood.
Wow, a lovely Bruichladdich! The aromas and the taste are amazing, the finish is unique. All experiences seem to noticeably drop off after a few sips.
