Chichibu 2008-2009, Single Malt Newborn Double Matured, Cask No. 445, 221/359, 61.4% abv.
This "newborn" used Braemar non-peated barley and was matured in a bourbon barrel for ~1 year and then matured again in a new american oak hogshead for ~6 months from June to November 2009. Is the indicted cask number the last cask?
Nose: slight Asian pears, wet old stand lotus leaves, transforms to a Hanyu-like vanilla/toast and honey.
Palate: sweet, honey and molasses, very similar to Cask No. 447 I had prior.
Finish: short, extremely brown sugar sweet.
Very good for new make and very similar to Chichibu New Make Cask No. 447.
Grade: B
Couldn't find quantifiable, reliable reviews.
