Whisky Reviews

Chichibu 2013 8 Year Old, Single ex-Merlot Cask for Whisky Mew

Tasting Notes

Nose: Coffee custard bun, cocoa powder, maple syrup, varnish

Palate: Insanely viscous, tastes and feels like liquefied wine gums. Then a kombucha sweet-sour funk, slight ethanol edge, chocolate ganache, bread, butter, candied lemon.

Finish: Endless, pecan, granola with raisins and redcurrants, nougat

Wow. Wow. Wow. I got a dram of this for slightly more than 10USD at a local whisky fair. But speculation has put bottle prices through the roof and way beyond my reach. I rate it 92 and only because of the slight ethanol edge. But it has no right having so little of an edge at so young and such high strength anyway.
