Chichibu 5, 2010-2016, Asta Morris, 1st Fill Virgin Hogshead Cask #702, 195/380, 52.3% abv.
Asta Morris is an IB from Belgium and their bottles are well distributed in Japan.
Nose: intense, roots, toast/vanilla, almonds, light fruit. Quite nice like all Chichibu single casks.
Palate: initial palate and back palate has light malt, back palate has coconuts. Yeah, nothing much going on. What happened?
Finish: abv numbness, honey coated tongue.
A sweet whisky that sticks to the Chichibu toast style. Doesn't offer much relative to other single cask Chichibu imho, but still very enjoyable and loads better than most whiskies out there.
Grade: B-
Couldn't find quantifiable, reliable reviews.
It's really hard to find quality reviews for Japanese whiskies.
