This mdc was bottled for Shuiku no Kai (Alcohol Education Society) and lotteried out during their 2017 inaugural conference. Comes in a 200 ml flask. The group was actually started in 2015 by Bar Fingal's Motohiro Tanishima with the goal of educating the public on the world of recreational liquor. This is interesting because mdc's were Chichibu single casks pre-sold to various Japanese retailers in 2008-2010. I must have missed something.

Nose: old leaves, old wood, beans.

Palate: medium bodied, initial palate has honey, mid palate exrends on the honey and introduces some wood, hints of vanilla, back palate has vanilla/toast. Definite bourbon barrel.

Finish: short, spices, wood.

Basic stuff, nothing too special. Nose was weird though. Then again, I just had a bunch of legenadry whiskies.

Grade: C+
