Clynelish 1997, 17 Years Old, Lady of The Glen

Clynelish 1997 - 17 years old - Lady of The Glen - Bourbon cask - Cask # 12363 - 54.9% ABV - 267 bottles

Nose: The aromas of rich vanilla develop into cooked banana and toffee, accompany with waves and waves of sweet spice. Wild flower, clover, buckwheat, orange blossom, honey, caramelised pie and thick waxy vanilla appeared with drops of water. (90/100)

Palate: Succulent, soft, creamy and light on arrival. Heathery-honey sweetness and maltiness, vanilla custard, stevia and wafts of pink salt. With water brings out intensely malty and fresh at first, and then pleasant ester flowery, more citrusy adds weight. Fabulous bitter-sweet-salty balance which brings out the sweet side with just a gentle touches of sea salt. (90/100)

Finish: Very long. Teasing, mouth-watering and coating, creamy, sweetness and waxy lingers on, warm heat and delicious. (89/100)

Overall: A Clynelish which fully matured in a bourbon cask hardly failed, this one definitely not an exceptional. It’s not just flavoursome, solid and savoury, but also powerful and robust. (90/100)
