This is the 2016, batch 5 release of the CEHTBP. The thing I find interesting about CEHTBP, or CEHT in general is the mash bill. CEHTBP is said to be derived from Buffalo Trace's Mash Bill no. 1, which has at most 10% rye. Barrels aged 6 to 8 years are used for CEHTBP while word on the street says barrels aged 8 to 9 years is used for Stagg Jr. Note many other Buffalo Trace brands and product lines also use Mash Bill #1. Uncut in this case means single barrel/small batch while unfiltered more or less means there was no chill filtering.

Nose: purple raisins, bbq (not sure if this is an artifact of previous shots), sour bbq sauce, vinegar, reminds me of tonights Larceny group (Old Fitzgerald, Blood Oath Pacts 2 and 3), after some time, its like bbq pork.

Palate: medium body, very dry, initial palate was honey and oak, becomes dark fruity and chocolate real fast, super dry, mid palate is a strange meaty honey pork bbq flavor, strong flavors in general, back palate becomes a little nutty, more bbq syrup than anything else, aromas become floral.

Finish: super dry, spice, dehydrated fruits and light chocolate.

Wow what a potent whisky! Strong flavors from beginning to finish, that flavor profile is hard to interpret with that high abv and intense, hot flavors. The dryness makes it hard to describe too! Quite delicious, but unbalanced, and that abv is too high for me. Really good, I'm a fan of E.H. Taylor Barrel Proofs though.

Grade: B
