This old bottle is a little interesting, suggesting it came from the era of Bells, with "A Family of Distinction" comprised of Dufftown, Inchgower, Bladnoch, and Blair Athol.

Nose: heavy toasted vanilla, pan fried pork belly, light wine grapes.

Palate: salty throughout, initial palate is sweet, mid palate is like a salt and red pepper seasoned dry yuzu, or sweet papaya, or sweet mango but without strong citrus elements, but definitely not tropical, back palate is quite sweet, honey and white sugar, the hints of fruit base aren't present though.

Finish: medium to long, like honey-yuzu water coated the tongue.

Dry glass: wax.

This one is quite sweet! Interestingly salty and honey/sugar sweetness all over which eventually semi-coats the tongue. Tastes like those scotches from the older generation where the quality is so different from their modern versions in my opinion. Howver I am not sure if storage conditions resulted in the profile I just tasted or if it's due to the era of distillation (i.e. vintage?). I would love to have these as everyday drinkers when I'm older... perhaps also as some sort of light, sauce-focused marinade?

Grade: B
