Eagle Rare 10

2021 Christmas shopping list, the Bourbons: Eagle Rare 10

We’re closing into our final few bourbons on our year-end wish list, with Single Malt Scotch taking over on Monday. That said, we’ve got some high value, high quality bottles to complete this list.

Today we spotlight what, to me, is the unquestioned value buy on this bourbon list: Eagle Rare 10. For a mere $35 SRP, you get a 10 year old, luscious, rich Kentucky bourbon that perfectly walks the line between heavy barrel notes verging into musty funk territory and a delicate, wine-like sweetness. This is such an approachable bourbon for a newcomer, but simultaneously this would delight even a veteran whiskey fan. The only drawback with this bottle is 1) it’s extreme scarcity in parts of the USA, 2) secondary prices can regularly soar to $100, and while this is bulletproof at its SRP, it’s woefully outgunned when you start comparing it to OFBB or A’bunadh prices.

So, if you’re lucky enough to live in an area where this is in regular supply at or near to SRP, here’s what I recommend: but a dozen of them, and your shopping is done. You’re welcome.
