From parent Heaven Hill comes a 2016 single barrel Evan Williams. Supposedly after 2005, it's been mostly downhill for the brand. Will check.
Nose: light honey, prunes, dried Dr. Pepper, hints of gasoline. After a few minutes all these aromas disappear leaving a light honey smell from melting crayola.
Palate: dry, sour feel, oaky? Like very dull orange juice (not watered down). Finish: short, slight alochol bitterness.
Dry glass: a sweet honey wax that got stronger with time.
A little boring, feels more like in-between a weak bourbon and a weak scotch, without any potential synergy. Opposite of what I think of SW juice. Just not a lot going on. Once the aromas disappeared after a few minutes, I should have realized this pour wasn't going to be interesting... the bartender warned me too, saying each bottle is a little different.
Grade: D
