Floki Icelandic Young Malt. (2016, barrel 31, bottle 456) Nose: dulled honey notes, very light citrus. Palate: low level bitterness, very waxy, leathery, earthy, slightly woody, young tofu mouthfeel. Finish: strong, spice hits me hard in the beginning, eases off with time. A waxy, earthy finish. Strangely enough, no aromas in the finish.
Nose and taste are very different. A very interesting dram, not an every day taster, unless you like that backend dull-bitterness. Semi-extreme palate. Reminds me of Port Charlotte (13) and Bunnahabhain (29). I suspect after several more years, Eimverk might be making some pretty good whisky, just needs time to work out the kinks and maturation... and the @Eimverk distillery makes vodka, gin, and other spirits too, so not sure how that will affect the whisky side. Drinking this in the village of Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland. People are so nice here!!!
