Glenallachie - Glenlivet 23, 1992-2016, Cadenhead Small Batch, Bourbon Hogshead, 198 bottles, 48.6% abv.

After Billy Walker left the BenRiach Distillery Company Limited, he started again by joining with Graham Stevenson and Trisha Savage to form The GlenAllachie Distillers Company to acquire GlenAllachie from Pernod Ricard (and also brands MacNair’s and White Heather) around 2017. It was obvious that after this acquisition that there were many more IB GlenAllachies out in circulation. This release was from/for Japanese liquors specialist Shinanoya but before the change in ownership.

Nose: honey, prunes, grapes. With time it becomes toast.

Palate: honey, backend smoke, bread.

Finish: dry, honey coated mouthfeel.

The flavors are very staged, all seemingly unrelated too, but blends and progresses so well. It's not bad, just not amazing.

Grade: B

Whiskyfun.com, Angus MacRaild, sgp:521, 84 points, not the Shinanoya one but I suspect is the same release.
