GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 6, 56.1% abv.
Matured in oloroso and PX casks. Heard GD made the Cask Strength series for it's affordability.
Nose: good amount of sherry, grapes, hints of honey, hints of wax.
Palate: sweet and strangely enough gets sweeter with time, a sherry cask dram, the wood pops up more progressively but in a very controlled manner, no smoke. The label says cedar wood, but I don't think so.
Finish: short, a little sweet, sherry-like.
Quite nice, a very good sipper, has enough flavor and heat to keep it going, and very well balanced. Interestingly the wood and honey sweetness amplified with more sips. I seriously thought this would be like the Parliament, but I guess more abv makes you focus on the true elements, which forces the nicer flavors and that unfavorable wood/old steamed lotus leaves flavor more, which I term expired sherry. Had this at Henry17, Busan, South Korea.
