Glendronach Single Cask 5527, 2004-2016, 12 years - specially bottled for Tokyo International Barshow 2016, Pedro Ximenez sherry puncheon, 659/688, 58.6% abv.
Nose: chocolate, red berries, blue berries, maple syrup, stabilizes quite quickly into red berries and maple syrup.
Palate: intense flavors, but light on the sherry. Oily mouthfeel, hint of sour wood that gets more intense with time, bbq wood chips.
Finish: short, warm, buttery, spice comes later, a light earthy tobacco aftertaste, dried out my throat.
Much more complex than the standard Glendronach product line, an interesting scotch, but I couldn't tell it was a sherry cask/puncheon. I admit I was confused at some of the flavors I tasted, the combinations really threw me off.
