This one was expensive and down to the last drop. Funny thing is, it was "bottom shelf" at the bar.
Nose: everything is very light, an oily sherry, variety of dark fruits, prunes, raisins, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, with time all these aromas intensify. Very nice.
Palate: oily, a little dull, bitter wood, not alot of sherry flavors. Light wet old steamed lotus leaves on the mid and back palate. Alot of air in the flavor profile though.
Finish: short, a fruity bitterness, fruit peels and rinds.
Totally not what I expected (I expected a sherry nuke); there were almost no sherry flavors! It was quite bitter, not very flavorful, perhaps the juice expired? Felt like a tired dram that gave it its all and had nothing left to give, with the remnants in the bottle. Disappointing is an understatement for this 46 year old Glenfarclas. Seems like I just like to throw away money.
