Glenlossie 1993, 25 Year Old, Valinch and Mallet Lost Drams Collection

Absolutely lovely. Sweet, light, refreshing. The stuff of my well-aged ex-bourbon dreams.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fuji apple, then apple compote with brown sugar and cinnamon, grated lemon zest and Muscat grape cutting through.

Palate: Light, crisp mouthfeel. So sweet and refreshing with Fuji apple juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, elderflower honey lemonade, and then a light kick of resinous pomelo and a touch of fizzy bitter-sour soda water.

Finish: Apple lingers but with candied lemon and a hint of lavender.

It won't bowl you over with complexity and power but when you want cohesive, unpretentious deliciousness you can't get bored of, this Glenlossie is the ticket. 91. Like a goddamned Capri-Sun but alcoholic and dripping thickly with honey and flowers. I would have gotten a second dram if I hadn't revisited the Cadenhead's 175th anniversary Glenallachie 25yo single cask, which is an outstandingly balanced, complex and rich ex-bourbon expression that counts as among the best unpeated Scotch I ever had, with notes of butterscotch, cherry, cantaloupe.
