Glenturret, Peated Edition, Batch No. 2, 43% abv.

Glenturret, Peated Edition, Batch No. 2, 43% abv.

Glenturret released a new core range in 2015 consisting of Triple Wood, Sherry Edition, and this Peated Edition, which was matured in American oak sherry, American oak bourbon, and European oak sherry casks.

Nose: akin to strawberry-lemon smoothie at Jamba Juice, sweet, citrus, grapes. All these aromas get lighter with time and becomes more vegetative, grassy.

Palate: light peat, oaky, gets more peaty with each sip but still light. Emergence of grass-like, green flora flavors.

Finish: short to non-existent, a weird oak flavor, salty.

Dry glass: old steamed lotus leaves.

This was a little strange and not enjoyable. The peat is there but in a sufficient amount to hide from your senses. Moreover, the vegetative aspects begin to dominate with more air time. The combinations make the dram a little rough and very unbalanced. So unlike the other two Glenturret products (Triple Wood and Sherry). I guess Glenturret isn't very good when they use peated ingredients. This was a brand new bottle too. Had this at Slainte mhath bar in Busan, South Korea.

Grade: D
