Hibiki 17yo, 2nd edition, 1990's, 43% abv.
One of the relatively older Hibiki blends as the logo is more like an 8-but pixel picture and the gold labels (back). Not sure when though.
Nose: light oak syrup, old forests, quite light.
Palate: good texture, initial and mid palate has vanilla and wood, gets sweeter with time, a little sour, back palate has a sour, raisin-like, vanilla wood.
Finish: short, slightly minty, raisin residue, a seasoning spice to it.
The typical well made aged Hibiki blend. Smooth and nice, flavorful on the palate, nose and finish are light, but impactful when there.
Grade: B
