Hochstadter's Slow and Low Rock and Rye, 8 year.
The rye whisky is first macerated with orange peels and then infused with a small amount of honey and horehound, which is a type of mint.
Nose: orange zest, hint of honey.
Palate: sweet, non-viscous honey, candy-ish, hint of mint, I swear there are angostura bitters (not that I can separate that flavor though). Finish: smooth, heat and sweetness is moderately long.
After breathing a little, the spice peeks out. Couldn't tell its an 8 year rye, separates the orange and sweetness, feels more like a cocktail than anything else. It's definitely as its label describes, honey and orange throughout.
