Ichiro's Malt Chichibu, The Peated, 2016

Ichiro's malt Chichibu the peated 2016. There were 6,350 bottles produced at 54.5% abv. This product is crazy everywhere except the US for some reason.
Nose: smokey, peaty, a little bit salty.
Palate: mellowed laphroaig, smoke, peat, slight salt, slight wood.
Finish: slight to non-existent, islay-like finish.
Overall, a mellowed laphroaig, moderate levels of smoke and peat, salty notes aren't over powering. The "meaty" flavors don't seem to be there. Fourth release in their "the peated" lineup, which is derived from their heavily peated malt. For a four year cask strength whisky, its not bad, but could definitely benefit from more time in the barrel. Liked how the silver lettering shined through on the label, although my picture doesn't show it. Had this at Bar Higuchi.
