Whisky Reviews

Jura 2002, Cask No. 1124, 242/705, 58.8% abv.

Supposedly an experimental 1 year "vatting" of a juice from a young heavily peated 1999 Jura with a much older mature juice from the 1970s. Interestingly, these bottles were signed by Master Blender Richard Paterson and Distillery Manager Mickey Heads at that time.

Nose: honey, pure honey.

Platate: spicey, not sure if its the abv or actual flavor, super wood, some leather, almost extreme Islay.

Finish: short to moderate, a little smokey and peaty.

I coughed... unexpectedly too strong, and not just from the high abv. Flavors were too extreme, which I thought was weird since the nose was so sweet. It was ok though. Had this at Bar Paradee, Yokohama, Japan.

Grade: C
