Kilchoman Original Cask Strength 2016, 56.9% abv.
A cask strength version of their 6 year quarter cask matured product distilled in 2010. Bottle run was about 12,000, so quite alot.
Nose: peaty smoke, intense, oak elements, obvious islay malt.
Palate: sweet islay flavors, some peat, some wood, oaky, like dried wet paper bags...
Finish: moderate, hints of peat and wood, a sour note hits the end. As time goes by, the wood domimates. Not too smokey though.
Intense flavors in nose and taste, typcial islay malt, tasty.
