Lagavulin 12 Years Old, 2013, 55.1% abv.

Lagavulin 12, 2013, 55.1% abv.

This vat of refill American Oak casks was released as part of Diageo's 13th Special Releases range.

Nose: smoke, wood, strong.

Palate: intense, wood, smoke, slight hints of sweetness. A super islay malt.

Finish: short, all wood smoke.

Dry glass: hints of wood?

Excellent and powerful Islay dram, has all the elements of a strong wood and smoke flavored profile. Simple, intense, to the point. Just plain lovely. Except when the glass is empty, couldn't really smell anything, maybe I was too inebriated at this point. What an intense experience. Heard it was the best of the 12 year range and I believe it!
