Supposedly a vat with a majority of 15 year matured in refill american oak with some 8 year first fill ex-bourbon barrels for the 2016 Islay Jazz Festival and also in celebration of their 200th anniversary. A sort of Fèis Ìle, so to speak.

Nose: strong wood and peat, a little salty.

Palate: initially bacon, then major smoke, major peat, puts a smile to my face.

Finish: short, peat, light bitterness sometimes associated with burnt wood.

A typical Lagavulin, straightforward, simple, and excellently executed. Meaty, smokey, peaty. Another amazing dram and a solid pour! Not much else to say. I love this style!

Grade: B+
