Lagavulin The Distiller's Edition, Double Matured, 16 years, 2016, lgv. 4/505, 43% abv.
Double matured in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks and bears the 200th anniversary label like all Lagavulin bottles in 2016.

Nose: bbq wood chips, smoke, slight medicinal aroma, salty, lovely.
Palate: smooth, slight tobacco, wood chips.
Finish: short, smokey, light.
Dry glass: smoke and wood.

Pretty good for a normal scotch, but bad for Lagavulin. Typical Islay smoke, pretty clean flavor profile, but light on flavors. I feel the smoke isn't as strong in this one with the younger expressions being more tasty. I think out of all the attainable Lagavulins (i.e. 8, 12, 16), this expression is my least favorite so far. Seems like other online tasters aren't too crazy about this bottling. Had this at @polestar_seoul.

Grade: C
