Longmorn-Glenlivet, 1963-2003, Gordon & MacPhail, 40% abv.
This is a G&M licensed bottling.
Nose: great body, well balanced, red and golden apples, graham crackers, vanilla, black peppers without the spice, a little complex as it is hard to discern what is really going on.
Palate: cool, initial palate is water, mid palate is is like watered down apple juice, back palate has light wood, old over-ripened fruit. Nothing out-of-wack.
Finish: has hints wet old steamed lotus leaves. These lighter vintage Longmorns seem to be held back by the dilution.
The nose on this old Longmorn is quite enjoyable, everything seems to balance out to give a very full, calm, and elysium-like nose. It's extremely well-balanced and tasteful. Like a small in-tune dance floor as opposed to an EDM club/dessert or a grand ballroom. Hits the middle quite well. Like all Longmorns, it's hit or miss.
