Macallan Boutique Collection, 2016, 57% abv.
This bottling of Macallan is made in cooperatiom with Everrich Duty Free for the opening of the Macallan Boutique in Taiwan (TPE). Supposedly the Boutique Collection is from the same casks offered to guests at Easter Elchies House.
Nose: major plums, sweet wine, some chinese herbs - the good ones, bananas?
Palate: spicy, wood, young tofu, semi-dried dates, old banana peel, wet old steamed lotus leaves, some depth.
Finish: medium to long, dry, spice, hints of fruit rollups and bananas in the nose.
The nose has great body, the taste is a concentrated version of some Macallans (editions release), and the finish is a little unique. I think the higher abv brings out the spice as well as flavors. Some expired sherry overall in my opinion. I can taste quality, but not my cup of tea... or dram of whisky, so to speak.
Grade: C+
