Maker's Mark Private Selection Capital Cuvée

If you saw my story from yesterday, then you know the punchline already.

I was at my usual/favorite local ABC store yesterday to pick up one of my usual BiB budget all-stars, when I happened to see Wake County ABC had released another Makers Private Selection pick. As I was waiting in line talking to a super-knowledgeable fellow shopper who was picking up some Yoichi Single Malt, a very rushed looking dude with arms overflowing with Ketel One handles cut past us to the cashier. Strange, a bit rude, but whatever.

Anyways, Number 1 Ketel One fan gets to the counter, and then starts asking the usual litany: “Y’all got any Blanton’s? What about Blantons Gold?” And the whole time I’m thinking about the four Makers Mark PS bottles on the shelf behind the counter, wondering if he’s gonna realize these aren’t just Makers 46 bottles.

But no, he just shrugs when the cashier informs him they don’t have any Horsey Tops and buys his 3-4 liters of Ketel One.

Then I and the gentleman behind me step up and buy the actual unicorns that had been staring the horse hunter in the face.

So, thank you Buffalo Trace purists, on occasion you make bourbon hunting easy again for me.
