Yamakataya is a chain of department stores primarily based in the Kagoshima, Kyushu area.

Nose: light plastic on a fresh pour, becomes more "meaty" and toasty afterwards.

Palate: sweet, some malt, hints of wood, actually a very little bit of everything. Very light and plain.

Finish: medium, continues to dry, overall spiced mouthfeel.

A mysterious one to be honest, everything is light, and for a few aspects moderate, on strength... not strong on the sweetness, not strong on the smoke, not strong on the wood, moderate impact from the spice elements and mostly on the finish. Not much substance. Bartender recommended this one and he's no slouch so I'm wondering what happened to me?

Grade: C+
