Mars Komagatake, 2014-2017, Peated, First Fill Bourbon Barrel no. 1782, 220 bottles, 61.8% abv.
This 3 year old Japanese whisky was bottled for La Maison du Whisky. Finally got to try it many, many moons ago at Whiskytalk Fukuoka 2019.
Nose: major peaches and apricots, unripe white peaches. Quite nice. Reminds me of the famous Macallan 22 Year Old I had earlier (Afro Tanaka).
Palate: medium to full body, initial palate has light honey, mid palate has a very sweet and spicey profile, all peaches though, honey, back palate has smoked honey. Wow, pretty straightforward stuff and very surprising that it's a Koma.
Finish: short to medium, peaches.
What a pour, quite nice, full of peaches, apricots, smoked honey... a little overwhelming to be honest and I was genuinely shocked that it was a Koma.
