Whisky Reviews

Mars Komagatake 30 Year Old, 1986-2016, American White Oak, 1137 Bottles, 61% abv.

One of the legendary San-in.

Nose: white chocolate, sweet cream, squeezed grapes, dried strawberries, prunes, syrup, a little floral, honey and fruit body as background.

Palate: dry, full flavors, initial palate is chocolate, sharp, mid palate is major prunes, dried berries, many dried fruit flavors actually (apples, prunes, raspberries, sweet baby pears, etc.), back palate has some wood and smoke, also some toast, little bit of mint, hints of a herb garden.

Finish: short to moderate, wood, slight smoke, a lot of coal residue, a little dry.

Wow, this is an amazing whisky, its full flavored with a foundation of dried fruits and chocolate, great body. Pretty intense, but didn't feel like a 60% abv type.
