Nose: a salty and cinnamon like aroma, becomes slightly sweeter with time, some typical cooking spices buy they dissipate quickly with time, background of leafy vegetables.
Palate: initial palate was sweet, mid palate has spices build up quickly but that honey like flavor coats the tongue, back palate has some wood, a little bit of vanilla, hints of coconut shells, more spices, after some time there is an element of toast, slightly earthy and viney.
Finish: medium, spicey, abv burn?, drying, a little bit like rum and raisins smashed together... but not the ice cream version.
A little sweet, spices add a good distraction, although the spice distraction doesn't seem to improve with time. Becomes more earthy and viney to be honest, not sure why it transforms into that. Doesn't quite feel near 55% abv and it doesn't feel like a Mortlach, but then again I haven't had many Mortlachs to be honest.
