Parker's Heritage Collection 24 year, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 50% abv.
The 2016 10th edition in the PHC is a 24 year old bottled-in-bond bourbon, which according to Heaven Hill is the oldest BiB in the world. Heaven Hill donates $15 to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research and treatment for every PHC bottle sold, in honor of Master Distiller Parker Beam. Parker Beam passed away from ALS in 2017, making this his last PHC bottling. Apparently this PHC24 has two vintages, Fall of 1990 and Spring of 1991, both distilled at Heaven Hill's Bardstown, Kentucky distillery (D.S.P. KY-31). Since these were distilled before the 1996 Heaven Hill fire that wiped out many facilities and resources, this PHC bottling is considered "pre-fire" HH juice. This is 1991 pre-fire HH 24yo PHC.
Nose: light toast, light vanilla, toast, butter cookies, sour wood, caviar setup, hints of black vinegar.
Palate: initial palate is sour wood, dry, mid palate is also sour, back palate is dry, wood, chemically treated wood, a little floral, spicy.
Finish: medium, light honey, some wood, dusty, a little spicy. Overall dull spices.
This is another weird one, a little hard to describe, generally dry in flavors, like wood being sawed down into powder, slightly chemical... very one dimensional... definitely not Willett.
