Port Ellen, 1980-1996, Cask, Gordon & MacPhail, Cask Nos. 5097, 5099, 5100, 63.6% abv.

Nose: filtered water (i.e. mineral-ly, calcium, magnesium, manganese), some white and golden grapes.

Palate: honey, spice, slight smoke, salted ham, plum skin, high impact overall. Like PE, but not really.

Finish: dry and high abv are taking over, general sweetness is coating my mouth.

Very tasty as all flavors are pretty direct and strong, that high abv might be helping by isolating flavors as well as occupying my mouth after several shots, but its also too high. Didn't get that peat smoke I was looking forward to. My mouth is a little numb... oh well. Word on the street was that this PE was amazing, but I have a feeling that if I didn't drink the GF, Zawa, and indifferent dragon before this PE, it might have been better.

Grade: B
