Rosebank 7, 1990-1997, Milroy's (Milroy's of Soho), 60% abv.
The Milroy's on this label supposedly refers to the shop John Milroy started over 60 years ago in London... or the man himself. That shop is also a bar and is named "Milroy's of Soho". I remember the first time I went to London, I went out of my way to go to the shop because I thought it was a place that sold whisky bottles... but it's more of a bar. I must have looked like a fool, searching for shelves of super special bottles for sale, only to hear/see exorbitant prices or nothing too special. That's the thing about London, as a whisky traveler, I had high expectations in the motherland of Scotch... well same island. There were no good deals actually, or I didn't find any. I should have just ordered shots of those super special bottles they had at the bar. I was so stupid then, probably stupider now. ... that park near the bar had a lot of bums.
Nose: a bouquet of white roses, very floral, hints of salt in the background.
Palate: body is sweet, sharp, sour, like drinking a floral scented white fruit juice (peaches, white/green grapes, nectarines, plums), back palate is meaty, honey sweetness.
Finish: short, spicy, near the core of a nectarine or plum.
Dry glass: dry fruit, wax.
An amazing vintage scotch, nose is very interesting, and the main palate is like an advanced fruit juice, truly like drinking purified peach, white grape, nectarine juice but with body. The finish is also interesting because it made me feel like I just finished eating a nectarine.
