Bartender thinks this is bottled around the 80s.
Nose: malty apples, like a sweet beer, hint of green grapes, some "dusty" paper.
Palate: medium to full body, smooth but a little dry, initial palate has a full syrup entry, hint of wax, mid palate develops some spice at 43%?, sweet syrup, malt, dusty grains, back palate is slightly diluted relative to the mid palate, smoked wood pops up once in awhile, malt. Not what I expected.
Finish: medium, a little tingly with apple juice, hint of malt, apple cider, light apple rinds.
A pretty basic Brackla and quite different from the 16 year one I had many years ago. Basic malt flavors, sweet, no weird wood flavors, done well. I swear this has the same profile as some older (90s) JW blue labels... which I thought was due to a large grain component. Might be liberal here, but I like the level of intensity in this pour, not overwhelming and delivers its flavors well.
