Sazerac 18, Summer 2017, 45% abv.
Part of the acclaimed Buffalo Trace Antique Collection since it's inception.
Nose: toasted or burnt honey, similar to Eagle Rare 17 and Ichiro's Malt Card Series but not as intense, once your nose gets closer there is an addition of fresh grass, a sort of chinese spinach with pink and purple roots, becomes more spinach-like with time. Elements to show it's a rye/bourbon as well.
Palate: smooth, initial palate is light citrus with old honey, mid palate is treated wood, back palate is wood polish, hints of honey. Hints of grassy elements in the background?
Finish: medium, honey, vegetable rinds, hints of wood.
This one is pretty weird. It's a little grassy in all aspects, but has bourbon in the back. It's pretty good, but a little weird. Reminds me of Lowland malts but with a stronger bourbon twist. Gonna have to be conservative on this one.
