Springbank 15, 46% abv.

A sherry matured version bottled around 2015.

Nose: moderate amount of peated, but light on the smoke, sirracha hot sauce, apple juice, some canned bosc pears. After awhile I get chocolate. Where's the sherry?

Palate: a little dry, initial palate is peat, mid palate has peat and smoke, some sour fruits juice, back palate has a hint of peat smoke, dried fruit skin.

Finish: short, a little dry, washed cloths, concrete, a little like dull rocks, some peat, clean.

Dry glass: sour fruit and after several sniffs it becomes fruity wax.

An extremely interesting and impressive one as I swear I could taste some peat and smoke, but it felt so generic. Not sure if I felt the presence of sherry though. It's extremely nice for a Campbeltown mass malt and overall it's a very well executed malt with a variety of components and a strong emphasis for a 46%-er. I never knew a mass malt of this magnitude in the modern age could taste so good.

Grade: B
