Nose: boiled peanuts, slight smoke.

Palate: very strong, good body, sharp wood, herbal, olive oil, liquefied sesame leaves, old longjing (龍井) tea, grapeskin, peppery, vegetative, hay? husk residue? I think I taste some peat, iron. Quite interesting.

Finish: long, quite strong, some sort of flavored herbal smoke, vegetative, light peat.

This Springbank was so different relative to the other Springbanks I've had, all young, recent releases mind you. The nose was interesting, reminded me of those bags of peanuts my grandma used to buy and spread on the table for us to eat when I was a little kid. The taste is quite unexpected as I got a variety of non-conventional flavors, revolving around flora... but it didn't remind me of flowers.

Grade: A-
