Timorous Beastie 18yo, Douglas Laing, 7,258 bottles, 46.8% abv.

Timorous Beastie represents the Highlands in the Remarkable Regional Malts series from Douglas Laing. Supposedly, it is a blended malt composed of juice from Blair Athol, Dalmore, Glen Garioch, and potentially others.

Nose: vegetative, bitter yellow grapefruit peel, some form of peach, apricot, plum aroma in there (only got these aromas when the fan across the room turned on and blew away the stronger vegetative aromas), some form of bread.

Palate: initial palate is slightly viscous, mid palate has hints of candy, dried leaves, bread, malty, back palate is a little sour, has hints of wood smoke, burnt herbs, wood, more bread.

Finish: short, a little earthy, a little woody, malty.

Not much to say about this one. Pretty simple stuff. Interestingly, when I put some on my hands and rubbed it, I got this sweet cedar type aroma... makes me think my palate is really ruined from all those rich whiskies.

Grade: C
