Tomatin Cask Strength Edition, Limited Release, 57.5% abv.
Matured in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks and was initially released in 2015 with a bottle count of appeoximately 15,000. This bottle is from the old design.
Nose: yellow fruits, especially old lemon peels, heated sugar, a weak white wine.
Palate: dull spices, light wood, mostly cereal like an unsweetened rice krispy treat, slight tobacco, toast at the end. Subdued flavors.
Finish: short, some heat, light wood.
I think the flavors, in all aspects, were pretty tempered. Not sure if it's because of my previous 2017 Glenmoramgie Astar, or if that's how Tomatin is like. I'm unable to appreciate it. Update 2018: I've tasted additional OB and IB Tomatin and have concluded its flavor profile is quite mellow.
Grade: C
