2oz @bols_genever ⁣
1oz lime juice⁣
⁣
.5oz demerara syrup⁣
⁣
6 dashes of @angosturahouse bitters⁣
⁣
shake everything but the bitters and strain over crushed ice.  float the bitters and garnish with a lime wheel. ⁣

This refreshing sour was supposedly another one of Hemingway's favorite drinks. As a diabetic he took his without sugar, and some of the recipes I've seen called for just a teaspoon of sugar. I'm using simple syrup as it dissolves quicker. Plus using a bit more sweet here balances out the sour citrus. ⁣
⁣ The bitters floated on top stimulate the appetite, compliment the acidity, and make this a drink that's perfect for a poolside pre-bbq sip. Come summer I definitely see myself enjoying a few of these on a hot afternoon. ⁣
