It's been a year since the PleasureCraft group's Parliament Bar joined the Singapore bar scene, boasting unwavering rock n roll vibes and advocating a laid back and carefree atmosphere.
Named in equal parts after the 60s American funk band Parliament, and out of sheer irony, Parliament is the true embodiment of a dive bar. Drawing inspiration from classic American bars that doesn’t take themselves too seriously, Parliament is all about letting your hair down and swaying with the music.
Tucked away on the second floor of a Teck Lim Road shophouse, Parliament houses intimate retro booths and walls adorned with Bar Owner Daniel Rahgani’s personal collection of autographed posters and guitars lit by a soft red neon glow. At the core of its beverage program is a menu that pays tribute to American timeless classics and American pours. Those same principles still hold with the launch of Parliament's new cocktail menu, which pays homage to pop culture, music and sci-fi.
The menu features the 88 Miles Per Sour (SGD 25 ++) which draws inspiration from the iconic film 'Back to the Future,' where innovation and adventure collide. This cheeky libation features Brown Butter Fat Washed Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Cloudy Apple, Spiced Orange, Citrus, and Angostura Bitters.
Thunder Kiss 65 (SGD 27++), on the other hand, is inspired by the iconic American heavy metal band White Zombie. Its a reimagined classic that pays homage to the band's electrifying energy and bold style. The cocktail will feature a blend of Goslings 151 Proof Rum, Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon, Cinzano 1757 Rosso, Pineapple, Citrus, Saline, Angostura Bitters, and a dash of Nutmeg; promising to put you on an electric path.
For those who prefer to be awakened, the White Widower (SGD 24++) puts a twist on the classic White Russian, featuring Canerock Rum, Galliano Ristretto, and topped with a healthy dose of Whipped Soft Serve, the perfect nightcap for any occasion.
Not to be forgotten, is the Pineapple Warp (SGD 25++ ) Imagine a classic Piña Colada stripped into its parts and reconstituted, and you’d be on the right track. This crisp, clear concoction is topped with an aromatic cloud of coconut, kaffir lime, and pandan.
This coming November month will also feature a slew of guest shifts at Parliament Bar. On November 7th, the team welcomes Nikita Mateev (Old Man Hong Kong, #47 Asia’s 50 Best, 2023) who will provide an exclusive sneak peek into his latest venture, Dead Poet, scheduled to open its doors in Hong Kong later this November. As an intriguing twist, the night vows to deliver a night of playful whiskey indulgence paired with complimentary haircuts by HK barbarer, Sauce. From 8pm till late.
The excitement continues on November 8th as Parliament welcomes General Manager & Mixologist Chloe Rose from CALL ME AL. This cozy neighborhood restobar, born from the creative minds of F&B industry stalwarts Beckaly Franks (Asia’s 50 Best Bartender, 2023) and Ezra Starr (#33 Asia’s 50 Best, 2023, Mostly Harmless), has taken the culinary and mixology world by storm.
