📍Mama Diam
If there’s one word we could use that encompasses the Mama Diam experience, it’s nostalgia.
Its deceptively quaint appearance makes it easy to miss as you wouldn’t expect to see a mama shop sandwiched between livley bars and pubs at Prinsep Street. The entrance has many features and installations that are reminiscent of early 2000s Singapore - from the void deck tables to the bright orange cash register surrounded by faded newspapers. The cocktails here absolutely accentuate this reminiscence!
Cocktails and childhood, two words that one would rarely associate together are exactly what Mama Diam brilliantly combines to create a tipsy trip down memory lane.
Here’s what we ordered:
🥂 Is It Tea You're Looking For?: Hendrick's Gin, Citrus, White Chocolate, Lychee Tea
A very light and refreshing drink that one can sip on througout the evening. The white chocolate adds to the smoothness of the Hendrick’s and the two pair surprisingly well. Absolutely fell in love with the whole concept of serving a cocktail in a teapot!
🥂 Cashew Later: Brugal 1888 Rum, Cashew Butter, Bitters
Despite being a strong mix right off the bat, the drink was bursting with flavour with every sip! The addition of the chocolate was a great touch and complemented the nutty aftertaste
🥂 Chai Tarik Brew: Captain Morgan Rum, Home-brew Teh Tarik, Chocolate Wafer
While the drink isn’t as strong as one would expect it to be, neither the rum nor the Teh Tarik overpowered one another in terms of flavour. The chocolate wafer was especially memorable and triggered beautiful conversations regarding our childhood memories of other forgotten Singaporean candies and snacks!
