Ume San 100: The Umeshu Bar Hidden Behind Vending Machines

Inconspicuously tucked behind a row of Japanese vending machines on the second floor of Fortune Center is Singapore's newest speakeasy, housing the island's largest umeshu collection.

Umeshu fans in Singapore, here's some good news.. Ume San 100, a new 32-seater Japanese umeshu bar has officially opened in Fortune Center.

The new Japanese speakeasy boasts the largest collection of umeshus in Singapore, with over 40 varieties of Japanese plum wine in Ume San 100's Umeshu Bible. Visitors can order from a range of umeshus, by glass or by bottle. This includes tea umeshus like Lavender Umeshu; experimental umeshus such as a spicy Tougarashi umeshu and a shisho leaf umeshu, Yatagarasu Shino Umeiri; and whisky umeshus like Yamazaki Cask umeshus.

Ume San 100's umeshu collection includes some whisky-based Yamazaki casked umeshus.

Customers can choose to order umeshus by the bottle, or try a range of different umeshus via Ume San 100's umeshu tasting sets (beginning from S$16 ++).

Visitors looking for non-umeshu based drinks can also order from Ume San 100's cocktail menu, inspired by unique sights and places in Wakayama, the motherland of umeshu.

Inspired by Wakayama, the P!nk, Sea Garden and Pot de Fleurs cocktails.

Sea Garden (S$22 ++) is a blend of Plymouth and Genever gin with lime acid, prosecco, butterfly peas and edible fairy dust. The cocktail was named after the famous diving centre at Wakayama Prefecture.

The P!nk (S$22 ++) cocktail, made of umeshu blance, baisu, ground sakura and ume salt, was inspired by the Wakayama Castle during the cherry blossom season.

Pot De Fleurs (S$22 ++) is a concoction of vanilla liqueur, fresh milk, creme liqueur, cocoa and elderflowers, inspired by the soils and iconic gardens of Wakayama.

Clockwise from the top: Umesan Nachi Pagoda, Mentaiko Kani Gratin, and This Uni is the Bomb!

The food menu varies from lunch to dinner. By day, Ume San 100 operates as a ramen bar. By night, it transforms into a bar, offering a more comprehensive food menu including dishes like the Wagyu is the New Black Chahan (S$22 ++), the Umesan Nachi Pagoda (S$20++) and This Uni is the Bomb! (S$14 ++).
